The pastoral centers in the Catholic Diocese of Wheeling-Charleston are places for outreach to individuals and groups. As an ecumenical center, we are open to communities outside of the Diocese for religious, educational or formational purposes.
FACILITIES
We are situated on forty acres of wooded property along the Opequon Creek, in the Shenandoah Valley. The overall serenity of the property is complemented with well-maintained walking trails through the woods and along the creek, water gardens, outdoor decks and patios providing many choice places for quiet reflection.
Priest Field offers facilities for single-day and extended-stay programs;
Thirty-nine individual guest rooms, each with two double beds, or one queen bed, a private bath and an outdoor balcony or patio. Of these, two rooms are handicapped-accessible with queen beds, private baths, outdoor decks and optional adjoining guest rooms, and are located by the elevator.
Four hermitages for private retreat. Each hermitage has a small kitchen, private bathroom, separate bedroom with a double bed and a living room with a full-size convertible sofa.
Two dormitories for additional overnight lodging.
Five conference rooms to comfortably host groups of various sizes. Each is equipped with tables, chairs, and audio-visual support items, as requested. One conference room has digital video-conferencing equipment available.
The dining room overlooks the Opequon Creek and serves up to three meals per day as requested (minimum of 10 guests per meal).
Two chapels for worship services or individual prayer. The Blessed Sacrament chapel seats 25, and the All Souls chapel can accommodate larger groups.
In addition, there is a small, private exercise room with new fitness equipment, a reading room with books, magazines and newspapers looking out onto a garden, two additional quiet sitting nooks for reading, reflection or relaxation, and a new kitchenette and social room for recreation, visiting, and breakout groups.
COSTS
The Diocese of Wheeling-Charleston subsidizes our operating costs. The requested contributions for the use of Priest Field are available on request for your planning purposes.
